| Another Israel Houghton First |
Rating: 0.00 (0 votes)
Israel Houghton has won so many awards (GRAMMYs, Doves, Stellars and Soul Train Awards) that winning must seem like old-hat to him. However, instead of just resting on his laurels, he still likes to lead the pack when it comes to getting him music and his message out there. Last year, Houghton was the first Christian artist with an iPhone Application. This year's first is through iTunes because on August 31st, Israel's new album, Love God. Love People., will be their first Christian iTunes LP. On top of that, Houghton will be the first artist in the history of iTunes with an LP release that includes interactive social network capabilities, a music mixer and Bible verses, as well as the ability to create your own album cover....Read Full Post |

"Lead Me," the newest single from Sanctus Real's latest album, Pieces Of A Real Heart, has a line that says, "Father, lead me, 'cause I can't do this alone." Right now, lead singer Matt Hammitt and his wife Sarah are truly living that lyric. Sarah is 26 weeks pregnant with their first baby boy, Bowen Matthew Hammit (the couple already has two girls, Emmy and Claire). At a recent ultrasound, they were told that Bowen has a serious heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart (HLHS).
"Knowing Bowen is sick has brought me face to face with the sobering reality that none of us are promised tomorrow and has pulled that nagging ache, the one to make every moment count, straight to the surface of my daily life," Matt admits on a blog he and Sarah created to give updates on Bowen.

| Praise & Harmony in Portland |
Rating: 0.00 (0 votes)
Magnificent singing echoed across the campus of what once was Cascade College, formerly Columbia Christian. Yes, the legacy of Columbia Christian lives on, as I remember the great music that has sprung from this campus, including the original His Heirs singers. A great turnout for our workshop in Portland Saturday evening fueled the enthusiastic atmosphere of fellowship and praise. Everyone fully invested their hearts and voices into the combined worship experience! Some traveled three hours to join us for this event. The spirit of the participants was quite impressive, moving us to look forward to our tour of the North West in April, with the express purpose of helping individual congregations with their singing. Let's teach four-part a cappella singing to successive generations and pass along the torch of praise! |

| Jaci Velasquez - Beyond the Planet |
Rating: 0.00 (0 votes)
When the Space Shuttle Discovery left earth on a recent 14 day mission that included nearly 9 days docked at the International Space Station, Jaci Velasquez had no idea that NASA astronaut Ron Garan was taking her album, Llegar a Ti, with him. Imagine her surprise when she found out that her music had orbited Earth 218 times, traveled over 5.7 million miles and reached speeds over 17,000 miles per hour (Mach 25)!
Following the mission, Garan sent the disc that he had carried into space to Velasquez, a Certificate of Authenticity and a photo of him holding the CD on board the International Space Station along with a letter that said, "I want you to know how much I appreciated listening to your music while I was in space. The environment on board the space station is very sterile and the only sounds you hear are that of pumps and fans. It was very important to be able to listen to music while living and working onboard. You definitely have a feeling of isolation while you're off the planet and listening to music allows you to have a real connection with your home. It was a wonderful experience to be able to look down at Earth while listening to your beautiful music."
